Discovering the Precious Moments Chapel – A Heartfelt Stop in Carthage, Missouri

That’s exactly what I found during my recent visit to the Precious Moments Chapel in Carthage, Missouri—and I’m so excited to share it with you in my latest YouTube video.

Often called the “Sistine Chapel of the Ozarks,” this hidden gem blends art, faith, and emotion in a way that’s truly one-of-a-kind. Created by artist Sam Butcher, the man behind the beloved Precious Moments characters, the chapel is covered in hand-painted murals that tell stories of love, hope, and remembrance.

Before even stepping inside, you’re greeted by peaceful gardens, angel sculptures, and the soft trickle of fountains. But it’s the inside of the chapel that truly takes your breath away. From intricate stained glass to murals like “Hallelujah Square”—a touching tribute to children who have passed on—every detail is filled with meaning.

Whether you’re religious or not, the Precious Moments Chapel offers a quiet space to reflect, remember, and appreciate the beauty in the small things.
